No coal in our streets, in our air, at our port. We should be focusing solely on green technologies and leaving fossil fuels in the ground. Coal no longer makes economic sense, much less environmental sense, except for greedy and short sighted businessmen. This is an easy call.
I oppose any motion to allow coal to be transported through Oakland. Not only is it a health hazard, it's a slap in the face to all the progressives who choose to live and work here in Oakland. It's a step backward...not even close to a step forward for us as a city or as a community cognizant of the ill effects of coal on our planet and its inhabitants. Please do not disappoint us on this issue.
