I need renter protection because my rental has just increased in rent 74% right after the moratorium ended on July 5. I have no protection because there is no rent control for 3 unit or less owner occupied rentals. Many other renters are in my situation since the moratorium ended, so it is urgent to get Kaplan's renter protection act on the ballot in November.

The time is NOW to stand up for Oakland tenants and put in place real and lasting, tenant protections. We cannot afford to lose more teachers, city workers, seniors, families and students during the current displacement crisis. CM's: Annie Campbell Washington, Dan KALB, Lynette Gibson McElhaney, Abel J. Guillen, please vote to place Council Member Rebecca Kaplan Renter's Protection Act 2016 on the November Ballot. The community has pleaded with you over several months to support their efforts to protect residents from displacement. It's now time to support them, and let the people vote! Thank you, Tonya Love- District 2.
