The city should allow for the construction of more housing, especially high density housing. The Tech boom is coming to Oakland and will significantly increase demand for housing. We must allow for more supply to be built. It takes many years for construction, so we must act now before the problem gets out of hand. The surveys reported at this meeting show citizens are concerned about housing, but the Tech boom will happen faster than most people realize, so we must get ahead of the problem. While it is an opportunity to establish a prosperous economy, we must make sure housing is affordable for everyone.
