Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution: 1) Authorizing The City Administrator To Accept And Allocate A Renewal Grant In The Amount Of $1,335,822 In Anti-Poverty Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Funds For 2018 From The California Department Of Community Services And Development (CSD); 2) Authorizing The City Administrator To Accept Additional CSBG Grant Funds From CSD For The Same Purpose Within The 2018 Term, Without Returning To Council; And 3) Authorizing A Contribution From The Purpose Fund In An Amount Equivalent Department's Central Services Overhead Estimated At $94,699 General To The Charges
As the AC-OCAP Board Chair, I totally support the allocation of these funds; which will allow us to continue to eradicate poverty through programs that affords low-income residents the opportunity to obtain skills and knowledge that will increase their self-sufficiency and improve their overall well being.
As an ACOCAP board member, I support staffs recommendation. These funds are crucial to our mission and are used to help Oakland and Alameda County's most vulnerable populations to secure opportunities that increase self-sufficieny by offering skills, knowledge, and support programs. - Janice Heredia
