Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution Regarding Oakland Police Department General Order R-02, Searches Of Individuals On Probation Or Parole
It seems very important to me that the recommendations of the Police Commission be taken seriously with regard to this policy. After all, arbitrary and racially biased stop-and-searches are one of the main reasons why people voted "yes" on LL. Plus, this kind of discrimination has been a sticking point with the OPD Monitor. This item should be postponed till January so that there can be more discussion of the Police Commission recommendations.
