I live on Madeline Street between Coolidge and Rhoda. This two-block long street is short, but because of Fred Finch Youth Center, Bret Harte Middle School, and weekend soccer games, it sees a lot of traffic. It has many, many potholes which, besides being unpleasant to drive over, are hazardous to vehicles and pedestrians alike. Some of the potholes are more like ruts that stretch horizontally across the street, others rise up like tiny mountain ranges. There is one in the gutter in front of my house that is seven inches deep and almost 28 inches long. My neighbors and I have been reporting both the condition of the street and also individual potholes. However, the whole street is chopped up that it most likely needs more than just a few repairs. This section of Madeline is not included in the paving plan. I would like to request that you reconsider that decision. Thank you. Celeste Fendell

    Hello City of Oakland Decisionmakers,
Thank you so much for prioritizing Deep East Oakland and the Fruitvale for re-paving. Those neighborhoods have been systematically deprived of public services, and we appreciate that you are working to rectify this. Thank you so much, and please hold strong against any efforts by those who are more privileged to derail this act of justice.

    Thank you,
    Laura Kelly
