4 22-0397 Subject: FY 2021-23 Midcycle Budget Amendments
From: Finance Department
Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution: (1) Adopting The Midcycle Budget For Fiscal Year 2022-23 And Appropriating Funds To Cover Expenditures Approved By Said Budget; And (2) Authorizing The City Administrator To Transfer Funds Between Departments, Programs And Funds As Necessary To Support Departmental Operations And Reorganization As Set Forth In The Adopted Midcycle Budget For Fiscal Years 2022-23
This proposed mid-cycle budget will increase the OPD's budget by more than $10 million. Rather than spend millions on police who do not protect us, please reinvest these millions into services like the Head Start Program for Black and Brown communities; alternatives to public safety like MACRO and conducting an independent top-to-bottom audit of the OPD; arts and culture; protections for frontline workers by enforcing worker protections and supporting a far contract for city employees. How many times must the community tell our elected leaders that the police cause more harm? I do not want my tax dollars going to waste in a bloated police budget. I want real safety for the people of Oakland.
