2.4 22-0500 Subject: Teleconference Meetings Of The City Council
From: Office Of The City Administrator's
Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution Renewing And Continuing The City Council's Determination That Conducting In-Person Meetings Of The City Council And Its Committees Would Present Imminent Risks To Attendees' Health, And Electing To Continue Conducting Meetings Using Teleconferencing In Accordance With California Government Code Section 54953(E), A Provision Of AB-361
We need to the restore in-person meetings and transparency to city government. The city needs to end the state of emergency and restore all city functions back to normal.
Present meetings via Zoom or online, but let's get the timelines for annoucing and allowing public comment back to what they were before COVID. There's no need for Emergency meetings and timelines with short announcement periods. Brown Act and Sunshine Ordinance!!!
We need measurable objective criteria by which the decision to return to in-person meetings can be made. Otherwise "imminent risk" has no meaning. Same applies to eviction moratorium. There will never be a politically convenient time to do either.
