I do not want to give more resources to these divisions, until we can establish a clear understanding of their net impact on the homeless situation, and the surrounding community. Additionally, I would like an understanding of where they are focusing their time and resources, and to ensure that it’s within the areas with the most acute homeless occupations. I sat in on a panel discussion to hear from Dignity reps and other orgs. Not one of the representatives from these organizations could explain exactly who they’ve helped, where that person is now, or even what time and resources they invested into helping. They explained a mode of operating that was as good as Uber for the homeless; curbside support. They meander the city looking for cases, only to deliver resources that sustain the status quo and not to change it. Honestly, I left the meeting with the impression that folks in these organizations were mostly dependent on continuation of the homeless situation, as a matter of sustaining their own employment and livelihood.

Added to my concerns here are that the homeless, at least in MLK/West Grand camp, continue to decline offers for housing/beds, and I do believe that the curbside services are part of what leads them to conclude that their current situation is sustainable and acceptable. We need to cut these services and focus all resources on compelling homeless into available housing and designated sites that pose a lesser impact on the surrounding community.

Operation dignity provide critical support services for our homeless residents. We need to meet the needs of all residents, especially the most vulnerable in the flatlands.

I'm a homeowner in D# and I want to write to let you know the importance of the work that Operation Dignity performs. We live alongside our unhoused neighbors everyday and to cut off services to this vulnerable population of people would be unethical and cruel. We need to see an increase of services and an honoring of measure Q that we voted for. Please show your support for Operation Dignity and support this agenda item. Thank you.

It's very critical to maintain this support by Operation Dignity. There continues to be a significant unhoused problem all over Oakland and, in particular, the unhoused situation in D3 is more significant than anywhere in Oakland. Allow Operation Dignity to perform their services for the community.

I absolutely support this amendment. Operational Dignity provides the professional services for the ENTIRE CITY CONTRACT for Homelessness Services. We can not have ANY DISRUPTION to these services and we need to extend their ability to service this vulnerable community. The more encampments we can close, the more relief West Oakland can receive. Thank you for allowing us to support this resolution. WE NEED OPERATION DIGNITY TO BE ABLE TO DO THEIR JOB.
