Hi. I bike with my toddler everyday to bring him to Little Stars Preschool and support this safety project. Not only will the project make my family safer, but it will improve the safety of all people who travel, live, and work on 14th Street. Protected bike lanes are proven to improve traffic safety outcomes for not only people who bike but also people on foot and in cars and buses as well. The approval and installation of this project will also advance our climate goals by encouraging and enabling more people to use low GHG forms of transportation.

I'm a resident of West Oakland and I fully support the 14th street project.

I speak as a resident that drives, walks, bikes, and takes public transit along 14th street. I go between Downtown and West Oakland multiple times a week and the current street design is not safe at all, as evidenced by multiple accidents and fatalities along this corridor. The streets are far too wide, especially west of downtown, which encourages drivers to speed.

We need to fix 14th street and we cannot afford to wait any longer. Oakland needs to take the safety of its residents seriously, and making our streets safer for EVERYONE is a key part of making it happen.
