    I recommend that you develop metrics to measure the success of this and other crime-reduction programs, and then report on the results at regular intervals (perhaps every 3 months). It's great to implement these programs, but you also need to ensure their success. If they are not successful, you need to make changes to them or get rid of them. Oakland doesn't have the money to waste on programs that don't provide positive results. Just FYI -- from where I sit in my home in Oakland, none of these programs appear to be having any effect at all. I'd be happy to be prove wrong. -Susan Jaeger (sjaeger51@gmail.com)
