Recommendation: Adopt An Ordinance Amending Chapter 3.20 (The Lobbyist Registration Act) To The Oakland Municipal Code To Include New Registration Fees, Late Fee Caps And Fee Waivers, Mandate Lobbyist Trainings, And Change The Timing And Type Of Information Contained In The Required Filings
This has been raised before, but there is no appeal mechanism for determinations from the Public Ethics Commission. Under the current ordinance, a final decision would have to be filed with the courts, which is costly and unduly burdensome of the court system.
