My name is Cynthia and I am here with BayPEC, Oakland Rising, and a District 4 resident.

I am here today to express support for the Maplight agreement and Proposed PEC Ballot Measure to ensure we see full implementation of Democracy Dollars in 2026. Oakland has made it clear that we need fair, transparent, and accountable government and this funding and measure will continue to move us in this direction.
    Thank you!

Hello, my name is Sietse Goffard and I am commenting on behalf of the Asian Law Caucus, a legal aid organization serving many immigrant communities in Oakland. We support this legislation and call on the City of Oakland to fully fund implementation of the Democracy Dollars program, which Oakland voters passed overwhelmingly in November 2022. In order for the Democracy Dollars program to be successful, we must allocate sufficient funding for both staff and technological resources today. Although we recognize the city's difficult fiscal situation, we see this funding as a small but vital investment for this program's success. This is a program that will run on a relatively small budget but have a transformational impact on political representation and civic engagement among Oakland residents. We hope the committee will vote to respect the will of the voters and secure critical funding for Democracy Dollars this year. Thank you.
