Hello Committee members, my name is Nicole Wires and I live in District 6. I am writing you today in very strong support of the Right to Recall ordinance. Workers in our community need your help. The majority of hotel and food service workers are laid off, and many don’t know if they will have a job to go back to. City Council needs to act now to safeguard jobs for working families. Workers who have been laid off due to the Covid pandemic should have the opportunity to get their old jobs back instead of companies replacing them with new employees. It's especially important for workers who've dedicated months or years prior to the pandemic working for a business to have the first chance at coming back to work. Please support the Right to Recall Ordinance and pass it without delay. Service workers in Oakland deserve to keep their jobs too! Thank you.
