Measure HH funds were intended to be used for "programs that prevent or reduce the health consequences of consuming sugar-sweetened beverages." But Mayor Schaaf is considering using the funds in the General Fund to overcome budget shortfalls. This is not what Oakland voters intended. Faiuling to address the impact of sugary beverages leaves many in Oakland vulnerable to diabetes, obesity and other health threats. Please spend the funds as specified in the language of the measure.
