From: Councilmember Fife
Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution Affirming Oakland's Love Life Commitment And Support For The Congressional And Worldwide Calls For An Immediate Ceasefire In Gaza
I live in district 1 and I strongly support Oakland city council approve a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. I’m a Jewish woman and an anti-Zionist. What Israel is doing will not keep Jews safe here or in Israel. None of us are free until all of us are free. Please do the right thing and oppose Israel’s horrific actions against Palestinians. This is only a first step towards liberation for Palestinians but a much needed first step.
I am a resident of District 3 and strongly support this ceasefire resolution. As an Egyptian & Lebanese person, a Unitarian Universalist minister, and a parent of a four month old baby whose name is shared by some of those killed in Gaza, this resolution is important both personally and morally. We have a duty as a city with a history of organizers and leaders showing up for what is necessary and right, especially when that stance is risky or bucks the norm. I want to be able to proudly say that my city believes in a just peace, where the people of Palestine are able to live with the dignity, freedom, and safety they deserve. I want to be able to tell my baby Noor that the city we call home values the lives of people who look like them and their family.
Resident of District 5. I support total ceasefire resolution from this city.
I'm an international adoptee. I have lived in the Oakland Bay Area since I was 2. I left for college and am proud to be back. Ceasefire now so less may know the pain I have of one's culture being ripped away from them by imperial powers and to have the struggle through everything everywhere all at once to get parts of it back.
I am a resident of Oakland District 1 and I strongly support this resolution. The temporary ceasefire we have now is necessary but insufficient. We need a permanent ceasefire and an end to Israel’s siege on and occupation of Palestine to end this genocide.
I am an Oakland resident from 94606 and I adamantly support Affirming Oakland’s Support For The Congressional And Worldwide Calls For Immediate Ceasefire In Gaza. A 4 day halt in the bombardment on Gaza is nowhere near enough. I urge the city council to think of the Palestinian lives at stake, and to consider the long history of violent oppression from the colonizing Israeli state government when making this decision.
I am a resident of Oakland District 3 and I am writing in support of Oakland's ceasefire resolution. As a supporter of Palestinian liberation and liberation of people everywhere, we need a ceasefire now and to do what we can as the most powerful nation in the world to no longer support and financially divest from the colonial apartheid regime of Israel.
I am an Oakland resident and support the call for a permanent ceasefire. I join the majority of Americans and the global community asking for a ceasefire to center humanity, to prioritize humanitarian aid, and to ensure a true path toward collective liberation!
My name is Feby, and I am a resident of District 2. I urge council members to vote in favor of a ceasefire resolution effective immediately. We need a permanent ceasefire and an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestine. With this Resolution, the City of Oakland will model what other Cities throughout the world can achieve. Justice and peace must be a priority.
I support being from a place (District 6 Oakland) that will stand up for those that can’t. I support being from a place that will demand a CEASEFIRE when people are being gen0cided. I support being from a place that will not cower to false anti-Semitic fear tactics. I support Oakland being the Oakland that stands up for the oppressed!
Ceasefire Now! Demand CA money stay in CA to support our education system and stop sending any $ to apartheid regimes. Thank you

Ceasefire is most simply a call to stop collective punishment of Palestinian lives in Gaza. More deeply it is a call for what Oakland has historically stood for - the clarity of the peoples' voice towards peace, equity, and nonviolence tactics. What has occurred since early October has been so painful to witness and there is enough hurt to go around but the time to use humanitarian and trauma informed solution making ihas been long overdue.
I am a proud Oakland resident. In fact one of the reasons I moved here 7 years ago is because Oakland has always been on the forefront for social justice. Please don’t let us down. Call for a cease fire now.
My name is Micah Bazant and I’m a Bay Area resident who has worked in Oakland for 22 years. As a Jewish anti-racist, I strongly support this resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. My father is a Holocaust survivor and almost all my extended family died in concentration camps. Our Jewish ancestors and traditions call on us to oppose killing, genocide, and apartheid. By voting to support ceasefire, you support a world that is safer for Palestinians, Jews, and all people!
I am a Jewish constituent of district 6 and longtime Oakland resident, and I strongly support the resolution calling for immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza. We also need to end all US funding and military support of Israel. Thank you.
I am a proud oakland resident, cultural worker, and small business owner. I support this call for a cease fire. Oakland will stand on the right side of history alongside Richmond, Detroit, and cities all over the world.
I am resident in district 2 and like so many others *worldwide*, I support the resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine full stop! We’re counting on you to make our voices heard!

Ceasefire now. End the occupation. Land back for all Indigenous peoples globally.
This resolution is the leasttt we can do.
